There is a senior employee in our organisation who keeps his legs on the meeting room table whenever he is alone in the meeting room while on the conference calls or on the phone.
I dont know if this is a serious issue and how should we inform him to not do it. Can you please post your thoughts?

As neha said serculate the msg as well as Put the same in the Confress room as a notice. With some good provarb to pich the person who is doing so. like "Pls keep your foot on the Floor" like wise.
while serculating the notice make sure you mention the diciplinary action on the same. so that even after doing all this its not stoped then you can take the action on it.

No horse gets anywhere until he is harnessed. No stream or gas drives anything until it is confined. No Niagara is ever turned into light and power until it is tunneled. No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated, disciplined

Is this a serious issue?? Since this has been observed when the person is alone in the room and not infront of others, do you think this is really an issue?
What kind of action can be taken if the person does not pay heed?

Hi
Employees behave peculiar with respect to etiquette/decorum which only reflects their individual taste and upbringing...
It is definitely an issue for a global company, also it may not be an issue for example, you see Bhrugisha feels it is not a big issue, and I will sneer at a person doing so in public place (except your own house any other place is a public place). So take in to account your office culture , then you can assess yourself if it is an issue or not.
We as Indians are not taught from childhood about dining etiquette, toilet training or many day to day life activities. Let us accept it as a fact.
If you are working in a global company, it is more an issue, than a traditional Indian company.
You may definitely send a general mail with a subject: Office decorum, but it will be better if you can go,sit with the person and amicably point out it is not expected of the employees.
Many times people just never realise unless and until someone tells...
Good luck

Chill...seniors are spoil brats...untill he is doing infront of any one there is no issues and these are some gimics seniors try to get in lime light but I never approve such things. but please dont put your nose in every thing, you seem to be young and new in the industry there are some things which are good to have ( ideal) and some are spoilers ( Hyzine) ans some are OK ( may be or May not be)... So ignore it time will teach him.

Yeah I was thinking since he does not do it when people are around, but only when alone in a room while on phone or reading something on his own, I may not be able to point it as an issue. Since I cannot say it is bad etiquette - because he is on his own in the room.
What will be his reply if I ask him to not do that since it does not reflect good manners infront of other employees? He may say - he has some problem with his leg or he is used to that way and he is not trying to offend anyone....
See this is not a very serious issue to take action against him, so can I just leave it as it is?
and thanks all for your replies.
