I received an sms from someone saying that he will assist in getting pf amounts. As per his instruction, i have sent him a message with my pf number and my name. Its been two days and he is not attending the calls. Check PF online is not working. EPFIndia website is a bs, no clear instruction. Its only saying 'invalid..'
Now please someone advice me if my PF amount had been stolen or not?

Your PF amount can't be withdrawn by others. If you have to withdraw the PF amount of your previous employer account then you have to fill the form 19 & 10c, your previous employer have to approve it and moreover PF office take 2 to 3 months to process the withdrawl request. Hence don't worry about your PF amount, it cannot be stolen. However you can visit the PF head office in your city for reconfirmation.
Don't repeat the foolishness to send the account numbers or personal information to unknown people.

Have you disclosed your Father name, Mother name date of birth and DOJ and date of leaving service,
Sometimes, they can have the direct link with the PF Office and it will be equally shared by the cheat and the supporter from PF Office. Even I too heard about such instances regarding PF Office.
So, be vigilent before disclosing your personal information.

Shilpa and boss thanks for your inputs. As shilpa said its my foolishness for disclosing the account number. But then its hectic, my 1st & last employer opened my pf account in bangalore whereas am in chennai. Chennai PF office people are not willing to guide me and bang ppl not responding well by phone.
Online pf balance check sucks as it has to be, since its government's work.
Any idea on how to check bangalore pf account balance? my pf account starts with kn/bn. Any help will be useful.

Please go through Right to Information Act (India) website, get yourself registered as member in RTI, please go through all the RTI Rules in respect of your concerned state mentioned in https://www.citehr.com/337575-rti-rules.html thread. Then approach the concerned PF Authorities and ask them to give the information regarding your PF and its present status as per the RTI Rules. If you ask in this way you can see some behavioural change in the PF Staff.

Thanks for the link. It seems to be helpful, however its time consuming as i have to send it in written form and wait for their reply. It could have been much easier had they made an online window and written in simple terms.

Please fill the Form 10C and Form 19 to withdraw the PF amount and Pension Amount or opt for Pension Certificate for the period you have served. If you left the organisation before 1 year please never forget to attach the Indemnity Bond. Along with the applications please submit your Savings Account Bank passbook first page copy, Pan Card, and the xerox copy of releaving letter from your previous employer, so that your previous company will not face any difficulty to trace out your details and submit the same without any delay. If it reaches without any fault, then your PF amount will be deposited in your account within 45 days. Never forget to mention your Mobile No on the top of the Form 19 & 10C, so that the PF authorities will send you SMS regarding the EPS & EPF remittance details in your bank account.
