I have signed a bond for 4 years with 10 lakhs compensation. But I have not signed on any stamp paper. Is this kind of bond valid, if I give a resignation?
From India
Hi,

Not sure what type of bond you had signed ? Whether it is a indemnity bond or some Training Agreement ? If the company had spend money towards training you in some software or some special skills then Company might initiate disciplinary action asking you compensation for the loss incurred.

Before signing any document whether it is a appointment order or any bond of any nature please go through it fully and ensure whether you will be able to fulfill the terms in the longer run or not before signing it.

Leaving the validity of bonds /Agreements aside in case of any dispute the employer can harass you through legal notices and legal proceedings which will be unwanted pain for you.

Even if you signed anything on a stamp paper, unless it is registered it does not have any legal validity, - such stamp paper is as good as a blank paper.

But you have not shared detailed information. Please share more details so that senior members who are experts in legal matters can put forward their views.

It is a pdf in which it has mentioned that it is contract of agreement . Which has CTC details , about rules and regulations and all . They have not provided any sort of special training by asking some tutors to train us . We had ONLY KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER SESSIONS ( KT) . I have not signed any sort of bond paper or stam paper . They have sent a link , where i have ticked mark , that i have agreed to the contact and later i have typed my name in the space which was given .

After going to office , i have not signed to any sort of document .

I was in my intership period and actual work was not started for me . Before that , i left the company , because of my mental health . I even sent them the medical record showing that i had anxiety issue .

I have couriered the laptop and charger which belonged to company .

Now they have sent mail to personal email id saying that , they will send legal notice for absconding .

Hi,

Hopefully there will not be any legal implications.. However communicate to them in writing with medical records about your separation and also mention that you had returned back the company laptop and charger. Hope you had the courier proof . Else they might twist and present a complaint that you had absconded with company laptop

The bond is not legally enforceable unless the employer has given you some special/specialized training incurring extra expenditure.

To my knowledge, an employment bond is not compulsorily registrable. However, an agreement or bond is required to be executed on stamp paper of appropriate value as notified by the respective. Such documents deficit is stamp duty would not be accepted in evidence if the deficit is not made up together with penalty (which could more than ten times the deficit value)
