I have worked in two companies and have joined a new company. During the background check, will they just call the previous company for verification, or will they contact all the companies for employment verification? In any case, I have submitted both companies' relieving letters.

Some companies do background verification (BGV) themselves, while many employ BGV agencies to conduct the verification. The verification is typically done with the immediate previous company. However, if there is a break in service between two past employments and you do not have proper or convincing justifications for the break in service, then the BGV can extend to previous employments as well.
