There is no minimum eligibility period of service prescribed in the EDLI Scheme. As the very name indicates, it is an insurance scheme and so the coverage is from the day of EPF membership and accordingly the benefit has to accrue. The family members of a deceased active employee of the Scheme gets an amount of 30 times the average salary of employee upto a maximum of Rs. 6 Lakh.

EDLI , as the name it is employees deposit linked insurance. If the employee was covered under epf, he becomes eligible for EDLI.

@Nrg EDLI contributions are paid to EPF along with ECR and EPFO will pay the EDLI benefit to the nominee of the deceased employee, after making claim by the nominee to EPFO
