The query seems to justify abscondence as a right thing after submission of resignation through e-mail with a medical certificate. Sorry, abscondence from duty, as it is, is an act of misconduct on the part of the employee who does so. Resignation becomes effective only when it is accepted and the employee gets relieved on its acceptance by the employer. No resignation would be accepted by the employer, if the employee fails to comply with the predetermined notice conditions for unilateral exit. If the employer formally proceeds on the ground of abscondence or unauthorised absence, the employee can be dismissed from service. Probably, the poster is aware of the stigma attached to an order of dismissal from service.
