Yes, you can., provided there is a clause in the appointment letter or application to that effect. For example
"Notwithstanding the above, ANA reserves the right to terminate employment without prior
notice in the case of:
1. Gross misconduct
2. Evidence of false information provided on your application
3. Conviction of a criminal offence" was found at
http://ana-nursing.co.uk <link updated to site home>
A professor at a UK university had his appointment terminated, as he had claimed he had published papers in international journals that was not true.

hi sorabh...
this is shimit here...
according to my thinking....first search that if he is performing or not...if his performance is up to the level then there is no need for termination...cz all it matters is PERFORMANCE...so thnk about it..but dnt leave him....penalize him for that cz if u will nt tak any action against him soon he will be on ur top of the head...!!!

Hi,
I tend to disagree on the point. A lie is a lie. If an employee can lie on such basic thing can u trust him in his job.... I will not continue him inspite of "PERFORMACE". Is there no value to authentic cretificate which people get by studying. I would kick him off or inform about him to the institute and ensure he is behind bars or aleast let him know what are the consequence of doing such thing si that he doesnt repeat it.
Warm Regards,
Divya

hi divya...wat m trying to say...
for an employee company comes first ...its performance comes first no matter wat ever the thng is....if a person is performing in a right way...and if he commits a mistake he should be punished but should not be terminated cz it will demotivate him in his life.....we r HR managers for us employees career and performance matters.....
its ur choice my view is this only.....

This is an integrity isssue...Providing Fake documents/False information is totally unacceptable. Agreed to the fact that HRM's are there to guide and support the employees in all possible ways..But there shouldnt be any compramise on Integrity.

Dear
Show cause notice must be served upon the effected employee before taking the decision of termination. You may also go through your Standing orders & the appointment letter issued to him.
