If the organisation needs to be function on declared holiday, they need to take prior approval from concerned authority. The employees those are working are entitled to get double wages for the day and one compensatory leave.

It varies according to state. Employer have to pay double the Basic salary as per their duty hours.
If someone's Basic is 12,000/- PM
He/she works 4 hrs in a declared holiday.
Then he/she gets (12,000/26/8)*4*2 = Rs.462/- extra from their salary.
