had worked on PCMM Level 4 during my summers with WIPRO-B'lore. i suggest u try n get a module fo the PCMM Manual published by Carnegie Melon...it talks abt hte implementaion stages at all teh five levels. since PCMM is basically focused on people-its applicability 2 HR is direct. there r area/dimensions at each level/stage of the model which need 2 b addressed b4 progressign 2 hte next level. areas like performance management, mentoring, coaching, motivation, n many others r described in detail in teh manual.
i had worked in the area of mentoring which is a pillar at the 4th level of PCMM. designed the mentoring policeis 4 the Fresh grad engineers called MY BUDDY at Wipro & also 4 the middle level managers called the ACE. have got a hard copy of the modlue...m nt sure if u'd get that on net.
u can try n check out hte websites of Wipro-they often talk of PCMM in their knowledge section ...

PCMM is nt restricted 2 IT organisations only. yes-true its most widely used by IT organisationsn infact it was started off in India by IT Giansts liek Wipro n TCS. bt nonetheless, teh modlue can be stremlined n applied 2 otehr sectors also...jsut that organsiations have 2 study the model in thorough depth n customise it 2 suti their industry type... its a tough job coz u dnt have many predecessors whose footsteps organsaitionas can follow bt nonetheless its very very possible....
also in teh article provided by Nagesh-its mentioned that Club Mahindra has also gone 4 PCMM-so non-it organsiations have also started the PCMM run..

the article posted by u was a gud one 4 beginners 4 understanding the PCMM concept.....reminded me of the presentation i made 2 my profs n class after returning 4m my summers-at that time PCMM was the most happenning thing in HR in the IT industry...n very very few people had heard abt it...

what r ur views in formal implementation and practical category. how does it help an org or my question is at what level orgs are getting benefited at this or it is only parallel process management to projects being implemented.
Same way u compare CMMI & PCMMI ? since the clients may not have these process implemented internally they do not like to afford to pay or bear the cost for the same ?

Check the SEIR site for the P-CMM section - there is a presentation there that addresses the links between CMMI and P-CMM. P-CMM supports and enables CMMI adoption - several organizations have indicated that they needed P-CMM to be successful with their CMMI activities.

PCMM is a very big task. There are various stages in PCMM implementation. You need to first put all the documents of HR in place right from Recruitment, Comp & ben, Policies. All the aspects of employees should be documented. A consultant must be hired to process PCMM. KPMG is a leader in this arena. You need to do a lot of ground work even before you approach KPMG. PCMM is all about optimizing HR process to serve the internal customers with high level of efficiency.
PCMM level 3 can be achieved initially and then 4 and the last stage is PCMM 5.
