Hi,
How does a growing organization (various industries - school, offset printers, safety equipment manufacturers) offer group medical insurance like those available from insurance companies like ICICI Lombard or United India? Currently, these organizations just offer ESI (Employee State Insurance Act) to all its employees.
As the company grows, some of its employees are demanding better health insurance facilities. Now that the company is > 25 employee strong, and is eligible for Group Health Insurance cover, what are the formalities / procedures involved?
Thanks in advance for your responses!

once if the company got incorporated you have take the licence from the inspector of factories ok while taking the license you have to mention the peoples working over there right ,once yoy got the certificate of registration it is mandatory to provide them the ESI benefits ,,if your company is required to go for any health insurences you can go for group health policies from any insurence company and yoy may provide them the health card too,

How do you shift employees who are currently on ESI to the new Group Health Insurance scheme? Can we remove them from ESI once they are covered by the new insurance policy?

ESI is mandatory and you cannot remove them from ESI even if they are covered under Group health insurance of any insurance co.
if you observe the trend now, lot of BPO co's are removing the associates under ESI cover from group health insurance, since they can't remove from ESI
group health insurance is not mandatory...
hope the above info. helps..

dear
you can not comare ESI withgroup health insurance or mediclaim as both are different.ESI gives lot of other benefits
which group health insurance does not give.
If somo one got partial or complete disablement at work ESI gives pension but no provsion of pension in any group insurance scheme.
ESI gives treatment to your family members also but in group insurance cover is given as per membership.
ESI is a social security legislation and it can not be repaced with group mediclaim.

Hi,
There eis a wonderful list of answers above. Also recommend that you get in an expert in structuring your cover to ensure that not only are the benefits you intend to provide, competitive but are also sustainable over a longer period of time.
A benchmarking of group health insurance benefits will help greatly and also obtaining competitive quotes from multiple insurers. Do let me know if you need any further assistance.

ESI provides 5-6 types of facilities under the same contribution. mediclaim facility does not provide many of them say funeral benefit. please do not mix up esi and mediclaim facility. two completely different concept and legal scope is also different.
esi is mandatory subject to requirement to the specific industry. mediclaim is an option for the company. u may use it to allure employees.
