If a national Holiday( Independence Day) falls on Saturday , being a weekly holiday day or non working day , and if an Organisation decides to declare another Holiday which is a festival, they can do so and it is an extra benefit. But if an employee is called to work on the Sunday on which the National Holiday falls, then the employee is eligible for the extra wages.

Hi Verma,
As other learned members indicated the mandatory 3+ 1 compulsory holidays have to be observed throughout the country. All employees, excepting essential employees & others who are to be on duty as per their rotation, will have to be allowed on paid holiday. Such of those had to work on these holidays will have option to avail paid holiday on some other days as per the working arrangement with their reporting authorities or can have compensatory holiday as per SO or holiday wages as the case may be. Details are discussed in the attached write-up.
