Dear All, I am trying to develop guidelines for hiring training staff for a technical institute. I want to create a generalized document that states that the staff who is being hired is an expert in his subject/area and is qualified to perform activities related to design, delivery & evaluation of that particular area (could be training program, assessment etc.)

This is relatively a new topic for discussion & hence need your support.

Dear member,

The heading of your post is "Guidelines For Hiring Technical Training Staff". Generally, the hiring guidelines are not made in isolation for any particular designation. A recruitment manual is made. It contains the common hiring instructions for all the designations and additional instructions for the particular designation.

Secondly, you have written "I want to create a generalized document that states that the staff who is being hired is an expert in his subject/area and is qualified to perform activities related to design, delivery & evaluation of that particular area (could be a training program, assessment etc.)"

Be it noted that merely creating this document is not sufficient. You need to ensure that the candidate's expertise for the trainer's post is identified accurately. For this, you need to design the recruitment tests, the evaluation form etc. Additionally, you need to take precautions so that the evaluation is done consistently, and variation does not occur even in small amounts.

Thirdly, while raising a query, you could have given sufficient information about the technical trainers, their technical field, the qualification requirement and who will train them, level of the education of the attendees, the duration of the training course. Nevertheless, it is dismaying to find that the members do not give sufficient information on their requirement and unfortunately, you were no exception.

Lastly, you wish to take advice from the seniors, yet wish to conceal your identity. Why there was this sense of insecurity is not understood.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar
