Another advantage which SAP provided is to standardise the business process and practices, thus offering strict adherence to company policies.
I have used customized ERP solutions (bases on Foxpro, Oracle, and Clippers) as well as SAP in my previous organizations. Personally I found SAP better then others and more user-friendly.
