Dear all,
Today all of us speak of progressive ideas & mgt. so having a couple work in the same co. when both are well qualified & excellent performers should not be a deterrent ,provided they are not in a position to influence each other's evaluation of any kind, increments etc. etc etc. or be favourable in any way to one another.
Today,s employment contract or the new employment contract clearly states the company's view point on office romances & cases of it ending in wed-locks or even about couples already married.
When policy statements are clear & correctly worded there is no scope for ambiguity to creep in.Ultimately, it is purely the mgt. decision to let the couple work or not.

Dear Ravi,
Of course, Husband and Wife can work and are working in the same organisation. I have live examples. My bro-in law and his spouse are working in Reliance Energy. Yes, their departments are divergent but the company is identical.
There is no legal boundation, actualy companies see that their work should not suffer just because of the same. As If your spouse is junior to you, you will have soft corner for her/him and most of times you will not be able to scold her /him even at mistakes.

i think it is totally dependent on the policies of the company in question. as far as i know certain companies do not encourage such things. because it might not be in the interest of the company. it might even create differences among the employees of the company.

As per my views both husband and wife can work in a same company but not in same department, because if one of them not doing the job properly then it may affect the other, also if both are in the same dept then it may lead to ego problems or even attitude.

Hi Ravi,
If it is in the policies of the organisation not to then you need to follow it.
But in the current scenario where marraiges happen within the employees of the same organisation, I think it will be demotivationg to others if an action is taken against it.
This needs to be mentioned before the employee joins the firm.
Yes there are negatives about productivity going down and so on, but considering their past performance may be you can give them a second chance/warning. But if the demerits of both being in the same firm persists then you can take action against non-performance not because they are working in the same firm.
But again this should not seem personal, it has to happen with the laws of the organisation.

There is no problem if both are working in same organisation. In my case we both are working in same organisation with different designation. We know our roles and responsibilities and in office we are also another staff like other staffs. That's all. We do our best for our organisation.
