I heard that ESIC ceiling, which is going to be increased, is applicable from April 1, 2010. Till date, I have not received any notification in this regard. If somebody has a document regarding this, please post it.

Please read the comments of Akarshan. I think then your doubt will clear. There is no notification issued from the ESIC department regarding the applicability date. So now feel relaxed. When it comes to enforcement, it will automatically be published publicly and all over.

Everyone for the past month has been discussing this issue. Please be informed that all official-level talks, discussions, or proposals will not have any implication. ESIC has to issue a circular to all units or a public notification in mass media; only then are units liable to act. This is a fundamental right. Henceforth, when we discuss, please inform members that these are proposals only. Also, as HR professionals, we should understand that any changes in the law require notification and a public circular from the concerned departments. Even if any local official demands it, we have the right to ask for notification copies. Alternatively, the notification should be displayed on the local office notice board and their official website.

Please find the notification. The percentage of deduction remains the same. ESIC Limit is now Rs. 15,000.00 with effect from 1st May 2010. Employee Share is now 1.75%. Employer Share is now 4.75%. More private and superspecialty hospitals have been signed on to provide treatment to all the subscribers. This will work out to be cheaper than mediclaim.
