The last question mentioned by you, which comes first - Day or night, the logical right answer is Day. Ask me how? Day comes under D and Night comes under N in the dictionary. Hence Day is correct in my opinion. Similar question is which comes first Death or life; Marriage or Divorce, etc., As mentioned by you the presence of mind more than the right answer is what is required!
