Hi Garima and Meetu,
As per my knowledge, if the employee is taking sick leave on saturday and he/she is not report on monday then sat and sun will also be included as leave days but for casual and privilege leave this rule is not applied. Most of the mid level companies follow this rule.
Thanks

Dear All,
Please note that Factories Act do not deal with Sick leave and Casual leave. It talks only earned leave which may be called Privilege Leave/ Leave with Pay etc. So to the query, we need worry about what kind of leave.
Another thing, it is not a matter of good company or bad company, but we shall look at what we are following ie. statutory rule alone or our policy which shall not be inconsistent with statute.
I think if we are following Factories Act strictly, every employee earn one day leave for 20 days of work and if a company has a policy we shall be guided by the terms of policy.

Dear all,
There is no policy in Factories Act. Please look at the provisions of Section 79 - 82 of Factories Act and related rules (rules change from state to state). Based on the principles laid in those provisions you have to make policy suitable for your organization.
While preparing policy take care that policy terms will not contradict statutory provisions.

Hi
Saturday - leave, Sunday is weekly off, Monday absent. How to treat this is a question?
Here, there are two points - i) Whether the salary/wage calculation is depends on 26 days- weekly off and absent will not be taken into consideration. Only Sat. leave
will be taken for salary calculation.

ii) In case of salary calculation is for 30 days, weekly off (Sunday) and the leave (Sat)
will be taken for salary calculation. Monday absent will go as loss of pay.

Do not consider what factories act say. In today's world companies make their own policies, and you cannot challenge them. All government companies will consider Fri to Mon as 4 days leave. Few private companies may consider it as 4 days or 2 days leave. All depends on the company policies. And you cannot as an individual change them.

Hi,
This depends on the company policies and every company formulates their own policies. According to my experience, if u r off on Saturday and again, Monday u r on leave, most of the companies consider Sunday as well as leave.

Hi Guys...........and gls...
If you work for 5 working day (in some good company 6 days work including Saturday) you need a break of one day as holiday.
We - Human beings can't work 24X7
Many companies keep rules according to their type and nature of business and their people / HR habits.
I suggest, if an employee work minimum 3 working days in a full week (5 days) as full present then 1 day considered as his/her paid holiday.
etc....
