Dear All,
Recently, I have joined the textile industry, and this is a limited company. Employees are paid here for 26 days instead of 30 days. So please tell me if there is any policy regarding that.
Awaiting your reply.
Thanks,

Richa,
Everywhere, the wage is calculated for 26 days only. As per the act, we need to provide a weekly off after continuously working for 48 hours, i.e., 6 days. The gratuity calculation, etc., are based on this rule only, but most organizations conveniently divide the total wage by 28/30/31 and pay, which is not correct. You can find the difference when you are getting wage partially, i.e., less than the actual number of days in a month. The employees are also comfortable because the deduction will be less with respect to the Loss of Pay.
Thanks and regards,

Dear Sir,
Wages or salary will be paid for the working days only. In government offices, normally the salary will be calculated for 30 days. In industries, wages will be paid for working days, i.e., 26 days. In Payment of minimum wages Government Orders (G.Os), it was clearly mentioned that the wage will be for 26 days. In mutual agreements, the management and workmen will agree accordingly. Hence, it is valid in law.

Dear D. Gurumurthy,
HR Consultant, Hyderabad.
As you mentioned in your reply that "In industries, wages will be paid for working days i.e. 26 days. In Payment of minimum wages G.Os, it was mentioned clearly that the wage will be for 26 days," I have confusion about where it is written in any act. Could you please tell me the section or subsection of the act so I can go through it?
Thanks,
Rahul

Payment of wages will be for working days only, not for weekly off days.
In the calculation of wages, some companies will take 26 days for the calculation of monthly salary, which is the correct way.
Some companies will pay for 30 days as wage calculation, including weekly off days. This is also considered correct.
All of these practices depend on the policy of the company, which will be outlined in their wage agreements or in the standing orders of the company. The calculation and follow-up will be done accordingly.
