Why can't employees open their own bank account?? In Australia, no-one else but the person himself can open a bank account as you must prove your identity. Seems like a strange system in India??

ØDon’t We have any Better Topic for Discussion.
ØHR Department is known for Employee Related Activities & Welfare.
ØAdmin dept executes the Same based on the Guidance from HR Dept.
ØHR & Admin are 2 departments that are very much interrelated.
ØAccount Opening is not a Great/Tedious Process that should not be Done.
ØPassing the Bug is not a Good Sign for a Professional Person.
ØMoreover when a Person, has only need to take a decision after posting & taking suggestions from others only for account opening, it sounds ridiculous,,,
ØThis is a fundamental process where the decision can be taken by sitting across & discussing.
ØLet us understand our roles & responsibility before taking it up.
ØThink of the employee who has come to you. If this is the difficulty he needs to face only for account opening, then will he come to you for anything else,,, PLEASE Think!!!!!!!!!!!!
ØMembers also, let us give some insight into any query raised.
ØSo Please let us invest time in Quality Discussions.

Remarkable joke?

You, being an anonymous person, don't seem to be serious in any matter any time, except misleading one and all.

Here, do you mean to say, only HR takes salary and employees of all other units work honorarily or without getting any salary?

Dear Suma,

Where Finance Department is in existence, it is the duty of Finance Department to open the accounts, but with the assistance of the HR or Admn Department, whosoever is interacting more with the employees, as only they know well the credentials of the employees, so that no bogus account is opened. They have to certify the correctness of identity of their employees.

However, where there is no full fledged Finance department, as like in small organisations, only the admn, having always direct interaction with the employees, has to assist the cheque drawing authority to open the accounts, as only they know the identity of the employees of the organisation. HR has several other functions to do to assist every department.

Hello Vimal,
It should actually be the task of the HR. Joining induction and kit is provided by the HR. The joining kit consists of all kinds of forms viz., ID, PF, Transfer of PF, Insurance, bank account etc. Opening of the account is one such activity of this induction. During this induction, if you have a pool of people joining on the same day, then you may organize the bank personnel to put a helpdesk and discuss with the new joinees. This organizing has to be done by the HR. Remember HR is the first person the joinees knows of in the organization!
Thanks
Uma

What a tragic state of affairs is this? The HR guys should really understand the HR role so that they are not merely pushed around to deliver as the hand-maids of the top management or other departments who absolve themselves of simple responsibilities of serving their internal customers.
