Hi,

I have completed my graduation in Biotechnology but plan to change my field entirely and shift to psychology. Is it possible to get into a Master's program in psychology? Can someone please suggest colleges in Maharashtra that offer an MA in psychology regardless of my bachelor's degree? Please help!!

Thank you.

Hi coolsweetu05,

That is not a problem; you can pursue your Master's in psychology. If you are in Maharashtra, you have the option to study at many universities. It would be beneficial to consider Pune or Mumbai University. In our college, we have individuals who are doctors (homeopathy), teachers, and professionals from various other fields. However, before choosing psychology, it is essential to understand the career prospects and suitability for you before making a final decision.

I am currently in the final semester of my MA in Psychology. If you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out; I will be more than happy to help.

Hi coolsweetu05,

Can you please tell me which colleges are best for MA in Psychology (regular mode) in Pune and would accept students regardless of their graduate degree?

Moreover, can you suggest some books to go through before I join the course to get a basic idea of the field before diving into it?

Also, pursuing a Master's course without basic knowledge, will it be quite a jump? Are some basics of psychology also covered in the Master's program?

Thanks and kind regards,

Hi coolsweetu05,

1) University of Pune, SP College, Ferguson College, Modern College, Wadia College, DY Patil College. I know only about these colleges. As far as your admission is concerned, you will have to talk to the respective HODs.

2) I don't know on what basis you have decided to opt for psychology, but still, "Psychology: An Exploration" by Saundra K. Ciccarelli is a very good book to start with.

3) Of course, you need to have a very good base of graduation for your Master's. You will be a master in that subject without even having any basic knowledge, so it will be difficult. But if you study all the basics, then it will definitely help you.

Don't worry about that. Once you decide that you want to do your Master's, tell me, I'll help you out with the basics. I am not a scholar, but surely can guide you on that!

Take care,

Hi psychohito, I am not sure yet if I want to specialize in counseling or industrial psychology. Are there any books that would shed light on these two topics and the job profiles after pursuing these courses? Or if possible, can you please brief me on that?

Warm regards, coolsweetu05
