You are accepting the ESIC hospitals are not good.
Please ask the workers of any factory about the ESI hospitals and dispenseries they will give you real picture. ESIC hospitals/dispensaries should have more medicines unfortunately even around Chennai, the hospitals are not having enough basic medicines. This is fact. As told by you how many workers get the heart surgery or bigger costing treatment, the reality would be around 1%.
In adequate facilities results in the workers not turned to ESIC hospitals/dispensaries.
The decision to increase the ceiling is good but the authorities must take actions to improve the conditions of the hospitals this would be the real benefit for those less income workers.

The raising in ceiling is only a discussion and yet to be convert into into law.many times discussion were held on this issue.
ESI is one of best our country have.But due our political system all good scheme are not reaching the people.we have to blame ourselves only.How many memebers are having relatives / father workinng in Govt department and honest.Before blaming the system, first set our house in order.
First,tell our relatives /friends who works in Govt department to be honest.Then whole country will be good.
For example, once in a year, all school will take the students to public places and ask them to clean and display board"help to keep the place clean".But next day the same students while outing with their friends / family makes the public place dirty by throwing the empty ice creeam cubs other eatable wrappers. Then whst is fun in blaming the society.

ESI Corporation approves Enhancement of Wage Ceiling Limit from Rs.10,000/- to Rs. 15,000/-
The ESI Corporation has approved to enhance wage ceiling from Rs. 10,000/- per month to Rs.15,000/- per month for coverage of employees under ESI Scheme in its 149th Meeting held on today i.e. on 19thFebruary, 2010 under the chairmanship of Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Union Minister of Labour and Employment. Shri Harish Rawat, Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment and Vice Chairman, ESIC was also present in the meeting.
Keeping in view the increase in cost of living index and recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Labour, the Corporation increased the wage ceiling limit for coverage of the employees under the ESI Scheme. This will help the Corporation to provide Social Security net to more and more employees of the Organized Sector.
The Corporation also decided to enhance the benefit rates for Permanent Disablement and Dependants’ Benefit for those beneficiaries who are on the rolls of ESIC for getting life long benefits under these two types of benefits. These benefits entitle the beneficiaries to get a monthly amount for whole life in case of Disablement and Death. This has been done to compensate the beneficiaries against erosion in the real value of these monthly benefits due to inflation.
In the meeting, ESI Corporation has also approved Revised Estimates of ESIC for current financial year and Budget Estimates for the year 2010-2011. An Amnesty Scheme has been approved by the Corporation for withdrawl of criminal cases filed against Insured Persons and Employers under Section 84, 85 and 85-A of ESI Act, 1948 and settlement of cases filed by the employers under 75 of the ESI Act. Provisions of primary and secondary medical care services in areas/districts where the existing ESI Hospitals are more than 25 Kms away and population of Insured Persons is more than 25000 in the areas, has also been approved by the Corporation in today’s meeting.

Please express your views. Central Government on 26th February 2010 issued Draft Rules Amendment Notification to amend the wages ceiling to Rs. 15000.00 from Rs. 10000.00 and this draft notification time is 30 days.
The amendment may be effective from 1st April 2010 even if it is notified in May 2010. Please advise your accounts department to be ready to implement the same.
