The eligibility under the Provident Fund Act still stands at Rs. 15,000. In Delhi, the Minimum Wage is above that limit, thus making the Act virtually redundant. As such, a large number of people are losing out on this very important social security measure.

This view is incorrect, as an employee once covered will always remain covered, and contributions up to the statutory limit have to be made in all cases.

Since there is already talk of enhancing the PF limit, I hope it will soon catch up.
