I was facing the same issue. Even my birthdate was also wrong. I gave an application stating the correct data against wrong one on company's letter head, self attested copy of PAN card, to the PF office. Then it took near about 2months to them to update the database. Finally name on PF account and bank account is same

One will need to change the name in the PF, as without the documents, the bank account cannot be changed.
Below are the steps to have the Name or DOB changed in EPF. Also find attached the Form and the Circular for the change process.
Steps of PF Name & DOB Change
[/B]1. Download the Name & DOB correction form.
2. Fill your details and print it.
3. Sign the printed form and get it signed by your employer.
4. Get it stamped with company seal.
5. Attach the self-attested copy of identity proof with the application.
6. Now, It is the responsibility of your employer to send the application to the regional PF commissioner.

You can correct your name by updating sending a letter to concern dept. alongwith all required supporting and second i am attaching herewith a form which is received from the EPF dept for name correction, by this form you can do the same. in this form your employer will attest your form and send to concern department along with supported document. this form is for our region, you can ask this from your regional EPF dept. or can change in name of your regional epf department.
