Answer to your first question is given below:
New position is a different role all together and yes even a confirmed employee can be put on probation for such new role. Now it is the wish of the management if he does not perform/fit in his new role they may send him back to his earlier position or terminate his services. But such understanding should be in writing. I guess after passing so many tests and interviews the possibility of unfitness would be remote.
However i do not understand your second question as to what do you want to say?
Once probation is over a confirmed employee enjoys many benefits which were not otherwise available to him on probation. Please if possible elaborate the same with some example/situation.

Thanks for your revert with valid points Mr Kamal, my 2nd point is similar to 1st:
Two Class IV (Sub staff) employees responds to IJP(Internal Job posting), one is Confirmed employee and another is on Probation(06months old in the organisation or 1yr)..
Now both qualify in the examination, should we start new probation period for both? since 2nd employee is already on probation, should we say will continue to be in probation? No increment is given but grade promotion is given to even probation employee?
Your opinion on the above case is appreciated.

Dear Mr. Ram,
Yes probation shall start afresh for both the employees. As this is totally new role not only confirmed employee but also the employee still on probation have to go through probation again for the term prescribed for that post. Although the probation period should be reasonable.
