Sincerely Tell, When u start working?
Dear HR Friends,
Do sincerely tell that when u start working at the start of your day and when u stop working.
For eg if office timings are 09.30 to 06.00, some people reach office at 09.15, and take half an hour to settle down and start work at 09.45, while some reach at 09.45 and immediately start work, similar type while leaving office, some people stop work at 05.45 and get ready in last 15 mins to leave office at 06.00, while some stop working at 06.00 and leave office by 06.15 and so on.
So tell , me in morning and evenings when u reach office, start work, stop work and leave office, and wats ur office timings.

Friends,
Why so mcuh conscious about timing? In my case completion of work and deadlines are more important for me. Dont worry much about timing but be concerned about the work you are doing. And we can't be productive all hours eqaully. I strongly believe in the Pareto principle (80:20 rule). To be more precise; 80 percentage of the time we spend in the office may yield only 20 percentate of the total out put. And its the reest of 20 percentage of our time which yields 80 percentage of our output. So why worry so much on strict timings. i thing hours of work doesn't matter toomcuh; What matters is our quality of work we do in the office.
In my case there are times i have been late for work. But there are also ocassion i stayed on long hours even after the closing time.
Hope you would agree with me,
Shijit.

Dear Shijit,
Punctuality and Time Discipline is very important and that too from HR point of view. Though I agree that completion of work and deadlines are important, but it depends on what type of Management you have, for eg: giving a deadline to subordinate when even it is universally accepted that the work cannot be completed in 8 Hrs, and then expecting the subordinate to be sincere and dont worry about the timings, and stay late and complete the deadline is not ethical.
So it is the responsibility of HR to see that all employees including the HR comes at correct time and leave s at correct time.
As you said sometimes u come late, but stay late, the total net productive time would remain same, or somewhat more ,, for eg u might be coming half hour late and going 1 hr late, but what effect does it have on other employees when they see u as HR coming half hour late.
So it is expected from all Employees atleast HR ppl to come atleast 15 mins before office time and they can go at office closing time. .

Good.. i agree with you. I was trying to say that time schedule is not the only imporatnat factor. There are many other factors HR person should worry about. Lets take two situations.
1) Mr. A is very punctual works exactly with the company timings.
2) Mr. B is quiet flexible. He claims that he is productive more in the late hours. So he prefers to stay late.
Comparitively Mr. B's out put is far better than Mr. A. Whom would you support?
I think conventional HR practices need lot of change. I would strongly recommend Flexi time in offices.
What do you say on this?

Shijit.

I support type A kind of people, as there are many points to be seen:
Mr. B must be a free person, not having any personal commitments, other personal problems, etc, which Mr. A might be having, so he prefers to be professional and completes his work in time, so that he can leave the office sharp at time to complete his other commitments, IS HR only to SEE AND JUDGE WHO IS MORE PRODUCTIVE, where does the HUMAN go then???????????
1. If both A and B need to work together, A will be enthusiastic in morning and dull in evening, whereas for B it will be opposite then what?
2. If in 10 people there are bound to be only 2 people of B type who like to work late, such people if they are bosses they are hated by their subordinates who are of A type , as the boss will force their subordinates to stay late, just for the reason that they are productive at night, another thing is what about the extra electricity of the company for only a few people who are staying late just bcoz they are productive, in night, these people are most suitable for BPO.
3. The nature / universe has made the day and night for specific purposes and any change made by the human in these timetables would only do harm to the humans only. Almost 90 people out of 100
people would prefer to come half hour early and go half hour early, and the rest 10 would like to come half hour late and go half hour late.
4.Flexi time concept is different and not necessarily means working in late hours.

I thing many of todays HR professional are becoming "System Conscious" than "People Conscious". I thing we need to maintain proper balance between the two.
Punctuality is certainly a virtue but this alone isn't sufficient. People come and go at exact time but failing to deliver true results whats the use?
