Dear Seniors, I am an HR person but new to hospital operations. I did not get any handover from old manager.
1) Please guide how to improve hospital operations.
2) What are the duties I want to do?
3) How can I control all activities in my hand?

Hi,

Please check the following

Attendance records : Please check whether attendance register is maintained properly
Labour records : Please check whether Labour records (as per your state requirement) are available if not start maintaining the same.
Personal file : Please check personal file for each and every employee is maintained properly. if not start gathering data and maintain emp wise personal file.

Recruitment front : Please check for local nursing colleges in and around your hospital area. You may get Trainees on yearly basis. As part of their course they should complete intern in some hospital for stipulated period.

Please check for employee morale and employee attrition rate and suggest employee welfare measures to your Management.

You have many more to do.. but check and execute based on priority.

All the best !

Talk to management and other staff to find out what has been done in the past and what the current procedures are.

Presumably staff are still being paid, taking leave, and statutory functions are being carried out. They don't happen by magic, there has to be a process in place already.

Secondly we do not work for YOUR organisation, so we are not in position to tell you what to do or what your duties are. Every organisation is different, and more than likely, every hospital does things differently.

You are going to have to use your initiative to deal with this problem. But my suggestion is to get on top of the basics first, and keep the current hospital HR functions running. Once you are on top of that, then you can start to deal the other issues, and explore what needs improving and how you can do it.

If you are experienced enough in HR, you have to simply design system which are necessary for your hospital and put in place. Also try to speak to the Chief Executive/Director of the hospital and try to get his expectation.

If you are new, try to establish good rapport with HRs of other hospitals and discuss with them and collect their feed back. Then you will find it easy to implement the things.

Please note that when you are starting anything new, there will be some teething problems.
