Can I deny an accepted offer letter? The offer letter states that its irrevocable. Can an irrevocable offer be made? And also have offer letter validity clause upto a certain date. The company is software company.

Dear Sahil,
There is nothing like "irrevocable" offer letter. Just ignore it.
Employer-employee relationship begins with the acceptance of terms and conditions mentioned in the Appointment Letter. Now if you have not accepted any terms and conditions how can that company impose any relationship on you?
Ok...

DEAR MR Sahil
Offer needs to be accepted to become it valid. When you have not accepted the same , it is not
binding on you. In this case since the validity date is given , if you have not accepted it will become invalid after the date.

Sahil,
Offer letters do have validity date just to deal with the flexibility fact with joining of candidate. if a company wants to give proper time frame within an employee can join on said position, they can mention the time period after which offer becomes valid. it also helps organisations to final other candidates in waiting list, if they din't receive a confirmation/acceptance of offer within stated time frame.
as far as legal concerns are; I don't think if you have accepted the offer you are binding by the rules and regulations of that company. its the appointment letter makes you bind by the rules and regulations of the company not the offer letter.
Seniors, Pls put guidelines on this..

Saunee

Mr. Sahil Kumar,
There can never be a `irrevokable Offer'. From your querry it is clear that you have accepted the offer. Still, unless you join the company and sign on the duplicate copy of the Appoointment Order in token of having accepted the terms and conditions mentioned therein, you are not bound by the contract of appointment. Even after that if you serve the period of notice as per the terms of the Appointment Order, you cannot be prevented from leaving the services. In the first place why did you accept the Offer and why you do not want to honour your own acceptance, you please be clear before giving your acceptance hence forth.

I think you need to clarify few things.
You want to refuse the offer letter or you want to refuse to join the company after having accepted the offer???
You can "refuse to accept the offer letter", however, if you have accepted the offer letter, "you cannot refuse to join the company at the last moment".

You can "refuse to accept the offer letter", however, if you have accepted the offer letter, "you cannot refuse to join the company at the last moment". By accepting the offer letter and later on denying it...can be concluded as "trading of offer"...which is UNETHICAL. You can do it at your own peril. In that case, the company will “blacklist you” and you will not be able to join that company or any of its associated companies or any branch of the company in future.
