For Group of companies it can be same eventhough they are having branches in all over the country. But if the same is registered in different names, then you have to take different PF Code, ESI Code, Sales Tax, Service Tax and others also separately.

Dear Bhaskar,
Even it is group company also we have to take seperate code for PF and ESI for respective company. Also if the same company have branches all over the country they have to take separate sub code for the respective state.
For eg. Reliance is a group company have the same properitor or CEO. but all the units under it has different ESI / PF code and sub-code for respective state.

Dear,
If these are two diff. entities, having diff. names, pay roll, regn. P & L a/c.IT Returns etc., even if under the same owner, it is better to have diff. PF Employer code for obvious reasons.

One can have same code no. for two estts if situated in the same region or even if situated in different regions but if compliance is made at one place.
It is always advisable to have different code numbers for the benefits of employees for the sake of Pensionary benefits etc.
