Hi,
One of our employee passed away recently.
We came to know that he has not withdrawn his PF accumulations of his previous employment at Mumbai.
He has been working with us for the past one year and his new PF A/c No. has been started in our company at Chennai.
Now I have been suggested that the widow of the deceased employee submit Form 13 for his PF transfer of old PF account to the current one. After effecting the transfer then she can submit Form 20 and Form 10D for withdrawal of PF and claiming pension under employees pension scheme.
Can this been done. Please suggest.
Regards

It is advisable to withdraw the old PF separately. Form 13 is a form to be used by a member of EPF to transfer his/her PF account. That can not be signed by the widow of the member. It should have been facilitated by you when the employee joined your establishment. Since you have failed to collect form 11 (in which he declares the PF details with his previous employer) it is better to take the two PF accounts separately. The problem is that if he had a previous service of 10 years and above, withdrawal of pension fund is not possible and in the absence of scheme certificate it will become a hectic job to get the service added to the present service for calculation of widow pension.
