So Walmart is finally in India............Is this a boon to the Indian retail ????? Will walamart last in India?????? Will this ensure difficult times for the local kiraanas??????? what will be its effect on the major players??????? How good is it from the view point of employment generation??????? To conclude would u call it to be a blessing to India or not????

Hi,
Wallmart will be surely a boom for India only in Urban side but not in rural side.I even have doubt wheather it will last long. Wallmart creates employment opportunities and urban people will make utilise of this kind of retail. Rural will not be attracted by this kind of retails.
Wallmart in India has advantage and Disadvantage too.

WalMart coming here is not a boon to our Indian Retail. Its a bane.
Reasons:
1)Walmart being the biggest retail in the world has some kind of advantage in terms of price, logistics, etc which Indian retailers have to compete.
2)Walmart prices will be very less than that of Indian retailers, which will be only in the initial few months. After time passes its prices are sky rocketing.
3)It imports all American brands, from America, which Indians dont feel using them. For example it imports a tooth paste, its actual price is Rs.100.but initially it sells at a price of Rs.30 and make people habituate to it. After some time it hikes price. It happened in many countries where Walmart was already existing.
4)People addict to American brands that are completely artificial.
5)Small retailers are affected.
There are many retail chains coming to India and Walmart is one among them. Actully Indian companies like Reliance, TATAs, Birlas etc can give a very good product and service than Walmart in one or more senses.
I expect an Indian Retail should be profited than some other country's retailer.
