Sir,
My company had a rule that a three months notice period needs to be served. After few months they sent a mass email to all employees that the notice period has been cut down to 2 months. Then after few months they took out a new rule that the employees who have resigned and are on notice period can be relieved immediately with the approval of their line manager without the consent of the employee. In this waving off process the employee will not be given full notice period salary but only till the date the wave off has been initiated.
Is this legal?
Can your immediate boss wave off your notice period without you being in any integrity issue and just looking out for a job in that time? Can the company just keep on changing processes inspite of a different rule being mentioned in the offer letter?

This is a part of Industrial Relations and against employees' approval, change can not be done else, create industrial dispute.
Its in Employees' service rules (act).Notice period is various as per designation so any employee resigns, notice period mentioned in his/her "appointment letter" is only ethical and legal exit procedure else, matter can go to the labour commissioner.
