Hi, this is a great news that ITC Hr dept. wants to hire me.
Now, I am going for the interview after 10 days. They have shown great interest in my profile on Naukri.com
I updated my resume after my completion of M.Phil. Thesis.
I got a call NOT from the placement agency but directly from ITC. I think completion of my M.Phil from Human Resource impress them a lot. (See how I completed it)
I have never done any job earlier. Please guide me with some good tips

check what you have given in your profile - hope it tallies with what you have done or learnt. be honest with your answers. too much smartness will be obvious and noticed.
there will be a lot of guys trying to loud mouth at the interview. ignore them. what sells is your skills, unless you want to be in the sabji mandi or fish market for selling your wares.
assuming you are a guy: dress formally, be punctual (or ahead at the interview), wait for instructions to sit. don't interrupt the interviewer(s) when he is talking or asking questions. think for a second before answering. switch off your mobile before entering the room.
thank them before leaving. if interview goes well and you go to the next round - congrats you have succeeded. else you have got an experience.

First of all, Congrats :)
Check with what Mr. Ramesh have mentioned. My kind of advice (silly) is don't ever be nervous. You might feel good and confident before the interview but in the interview never allow your confidence level to drop down. Nervousness will surely affect your performance level and it will not let the interviewer know or read your complete capability. :( This is because you are a fresher...
Again check the post which you have applied for, there would have been a list of job responsibility given...do go through that and again what ever you have specified in your resume will the call for the questions...
For me when I take a interview, I ask questions only form the interviewee's resume and from his/her answers... You shall even check with the attachments...I hope that might help you a bit...

Members have already given you good input. I would like to mention a few other things:
Please see questions below that I have borrowed from "TopGrading" (and also implement the same). This is for freshers.
Give me a feel for what kind of College it was and generally what were your college years like?
What school / college activities did you take part in?
What sort of grades did you receive, what was your class standing, and what were your study habits like?
What people or events during your college might have had an influence on your career?
Were there any special awards, honors, special achievements during your college years?
What were your high points during your college years? (They will Look for leadership initiatives, and particularly what competencies the interview exhibits now while discussing those years)
What were your low points, or least enjoyable occurrences, during your college years?
Give me a feel for any jobs you held during your college years (summer internship / part-time job)
What were your career thoughts toward the end of the college?

Apart from the above:a few tips from my end
Interviewers like pleasing / cheerful candidates. But make sure you are not overly cheerful (I had one such candidate for interview and felt he was only a Blah Blah)
Be confident with your views. If at all you have any questions, ask them with confidence. For example, if you have heard that the company is trying to venture in new areas, instead of asking "I heard you are going to invest in other areas" or "Are you really going to diversify"? - you could ask: I was trying to learn about your group from the net / magazine, and it was interesting to hear that you have plans to diversify. I would be really happy to learn about that if you could share some details..
Instead of asking " Do you think I can grow with you?" you can ask "Based on the conversation I feel its a brilliant opportunity, I would be interested in learning about my future opportunities from internal growth with this company"
So you got my point right? Never ask with a doubt..
Be confident – never fear for representing your skills. After all, you were called for an interview because you have already passed the first screening round! So - be cheerful and converse with confidence.
Inventory your accomplishments (sometimes you tend to forget to mention a few important events when you are being interviewed, so be prepared)
Be realistic when you are asked for Salary expectations. Make a thorough study on what is the standard salary for people in your profession. Let the Organization know that you are also willing to negotiate
What made you chose the specific position and apply for it (please don’t give answers like – I was called, and so I came (or) I don’t know I am just alright with any job! (or) I am a fresher so I am ready to do any job) Be specific on the career aspect, cite examples what made you feel that you could excel in the profession you have chosen to attend an interview for. No one will want to hire you if you have no purpose of being there!
Please bear this is mind too - Over confidence or Blowing our own trumpet can ruin the day!

Congratulations. I am sure you are excited and nervous which is a good thing. Nervousness makes you work harder, just make sure that once you enter the interview room the nervousness takes a back seat.
The first thing that strikes any interviewer is the physical appearance of the candidate. Besides taking care of your clothes, polishing your shoes you must make sure that you are not sweating and neither are your palms. (Sorry to be so direct). Anyway make sure your body language is sharp and pleasant and doesnt send out sloppy signals.
Majority weightage is given to job knowledge/ subject knowledge, so make sure you are prepared. Your thesis would surely be questioned. General awareness, recent happenings, your knowledge about the company will also be included. (In one of the interviews, candidates were even asked about currencies and capitals of countries). Your attitude and acceptability to change is also tested. Since you are a fresher, your decision for choosing this field, relevance of your current qualification to your prior ones, experiences during college displaying your leadership qualities, interest in extra curricular activities, hobbies are some typical areas of questioning.
There are plenty of sites that offer a list of interview questions. Go through them.
