I am new to this forum,I am a B.Tech in IT i am a fresher my interest is to pursue a master/MBA in HRM .I would like to know is can i pursue a career in HR wht are the available options ?other than the IT companies do any other companies hire HR managers?I woulg like to know career prospects available afetr finishing my course?

First-You can do MBA in whichever line you wish to. In the long run, MBA with BTech is always a good combination.
But even before this step, be sure of the reasons WHY you want to do MBA....your reasons will turn out to be important if you shoudn't get disillusioned later, since every career line has it's oen hiccups & glory points.
Reg the career prospects, it's definitely a good line....but you need to co-relate your temperment vis-a-vis the HR line-menaing are you good for HR? You will need lots of patience and the flair to handle people, issues much more than a techie. If you don't have these skills, HR will not be the right one for you.
Now it's for you to figure out if HR suits you or not.

Reg the salary for HR manager, I suggest you don't decide based on the money factor. Anyway you will not be joining as the HR manager right away after your MBA...right?
Focus on building your base in your profession...whatever it finally is....and then the money will follow.

The career path what you have taken is mostly opted by Techies. An MBA with a technical background is always a good choice. One thing is to make you aware is after your education, which field you would like to opt for..
your option to start your career is into Technical stream then you shoulb be able to answer ahy you have done your masters in Managemant side
(Or)
If you are going to start your career with a HR role you will be observed easily into the organisation since you are having both Technical and Management backgroud.
I would like to add you is if your choice is to start your career with a technical stream then at this moment not needed your Masters in what ever stream.You can do it later.
Please let me know if any clarifications

being an graduate u can go for MBA in any steam. as far as HR is concerned you can opt for major HR and minor IT . this could be best combination for u.
Dont look at the money matter for HR field as in this field earning at the initial point is not good, but as you go on and on you receive wonderful pay.
as far as colleges are concerned it depend on ur capability to get admission in the best college.

See what made u think abt chosing HR. Is it the passion for that field?

Hey as u have a strong IT background . . . u can first learn abt Human Resources..and then introduce software systems to automate certain processes that can reduce manual work. So that does not mean only ITs will hire u!
And one more thing - if u have planned to achieve something - be dead sure that u will concentrate only on that, dont deviate. Many ppl would have not achieved that... but that does not mean u will have to make their failures as urs too..

As far as MBA is concerned it is understanding the business of the organization and people management.So whichever sector you are you should be able to do this.Since you have IT background IT sector will be more comfortable to you in the sense...understanding the work,realizing the job of employees.... and it does not mean other sectors will be difficult .
Regarding the institutions, for HR XLRI Jamshedpur,TISS in Mumbai are the best in India.
