Dear Binita,
Nothing is equivalent to a Full Time MBA.
But it also depends on the institute.
e.g.: A part time MBA from MDI will definitely score more than a Full time MBA from any B-grade college.
It also depends on the kind of experience you have. An executive MBA adds weightage with minimum 3 years of experience in the same field.
Three years Executive MBA from:
MDI, IMI, FORE, DU, LBS are very good.
You can check for other options.
For any clarification feel free to write or discuss.

Dear Binita,

If I had to choose between 2 candidates where 1 had a full-time MBA and another an Executive MBA for the same position and with identical work experience (all other criteria being the same), I would always be inclined to select the Executive MBA.

Why?

Because, Executive MBAs are only open to those who have worked prior to enrolling in the course. And, mostly, they complete the course while they are still working - often more than 1 job - because 1 job pays their bills while the other pays for the Executive MBA.

And, without sounding condescending to the regular MBAs, the work ethic, personal discipline, motivation levels, sheer dedication, and the quantum of focused action required for the Executive MBA to hold on to even 1 full time job while completing a 12 or 18 month course are absolutely massive!

And, this isn't just my opinion. Its the opinion of a lot of senior leadership in progressive organisations - particularly the ET500 organisations. It goes to show that individual's self-drive, self-belief, passion, ambition, and commitment. And, these are vital behavioural characteristics that employers want their managers (especially junior managers) to possess from day 1.

So, my advise to you is that if you are working and contemplating an Executive MBA - I salute you! - don't denigrate yourself by comparing yourself to a full time MBA. Whilst that definitely has its place in the world as it may be, by the time you complete your course, you'll stand heads and shoulders above the rest!

Have total belief in yourself. Have total belief in the path you are trying to carve for yourself. And, take that first step - enrol for your Executive MBA.

I tip my hat to you and wish you All the Very Best!

Kind regards,
