Dear All, One employee worked in a company five years ago. At that time, a UAN was created, but the employee has not been activated. One month before he started work, his active UAN portal name was mismatched. What can HR do?
From India, Bengaluru
HR cannot do anything, either he has to change the name according to the name in the adhar or correct the name in the adhar as per his school leaving certificate. At the time of joining the HR should have checked the status of the UAN. If he had done that at that time, he would have got enough time to get the name corrected.

If the employee's UAN (Universal Account Number) portal name was mismatched, HR can take the following steps:

1. Verify the employee's details: Ensure the employee's name, date of birth, and other details match the records.
2. Contact the EPFO: Reach out to the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) customer care or the regional office for assistance.
3. Request correction: Submit a request to correct the mismatched name on the UAN portal.
4. Provide required documents: Furnish necessary documents, such as identity proof, to support the correction request.
5. Follow up: Regularly follow up with the EPFO until the correction is made and the UAN is activated.

It is interesting to read some points that Deepak has said. In the present scenario, you cannot reach out the 'customer care' of EPFO! The EPFO is not that organised to have a customer care executive to be placed in the front office of their offices. It is true that there is a public relation officer and a few of his subordinates to listen to the complaints/ grievances of the customers/ members. But these persons are not executives but just attender level class IV employees. They will not give any positive answer but only suggest to do it "online". Even when we approach with a Joint Declaration to effect changes in the portals, they do not respond properly. Unfortunately there is no filed in the PF portals to upload the joint declaration.

If the UAN exists, then the employee is register at epfo.
Later employee might have changed the details in his adhar card.
And now with new adhar details epfo shows error or mismatch.
The Employee is to submit joint declaration form with old and new adhar details.Hope this helps.
