I am currently working at XYZ company full-time, and meanwhile, I am pursuing my regular MBA (with no attendance, only attending for final exams). If I shift to another company, ABC, I plan to include my regular MBA on my resume instead of the work experience at XYZ. Will my new employer, ABC, be able to access details about my previous employment at XYZ, including my experience, through my UAN or ESI number? Please provide me with an answer and solution. I am facing financial difficulties and am determined to complete my MBA in a regular format. Kindly offer your suggestions.

It is good that you study while working. If so, why do you worry to say that you had done your MBA through distance mode?
This forum assists any person who requires guidance, but this is something like cheating. Once you complete your MBA, you will leave this company that has given you employment as well as the scope for studying and join another organization saying that you had undergone a FULL-TIME, REGULAR, campus program of MBA. You are again cheating the other company. If that company comes to know that you did not attend the sessions but managed to get a certificate (yes, I would say that if you think that you can pass out an MBA without attending the classes, completing the assignments, doing the organizational study, internship, or project study, as the case may be, you are wrong but may get through by malpractices only), then you will be fired immediately.
An MBA degree without any effort is worth only in the marriage market where you can claim that you are an MBA. That also I am not sure, because nowadays girls are more clever, and they will certainly ask you from where you have taken your MBA. They know that an MBA from colleges which are not in the top 10 or at least top 50 B-Schools are just an MBA for name only!

I appreciate the advice of the learned member Madhu.
Do not start your career on the wrong footing. In this era of information, your new company may conduct a background check and find out that you obtained your MBA without attending classes or about your previous employment, etc.
Why are you planning to shift to another company? Continue to gain valuable experience and then consider a job change. Do things the right way, and you will not face any embarrassment later on.

Then how can a person with a poor financial situation and good intelligence survive to get jobs with a distance MBA? Eight out of ten will say that a distance MBA is of no value. Can you provide any solution for this problem?

It is not the issue of distance programs. There are a few distance MBAs from some good universities, maybe private universities, equally good at par with regular MBAs. What I have advised is to be fair in dealings. If you are doing a regular MBA, attend the classes, do the assignments and projects, and then take the degree. There are banks that advance money for pursuing MBA programs, and they are more interested if you show the rank and admission entitlement at good B-schools. I don't think that any person who gets admission to a good B-school will not get an education loan from any bank in India. That is the possibility available to a person who is financially weak but is good in studies.

It has been made very clear in this forum that we do not support unethical and unscrupulous practices. If your MBA doesn't call for attendance, then its worth is suspicious, as pointed out by Madhu Sir, but hiding the information is likely to put a question mark on your credibility and integrity. At any rate, when you join any new organization and the PF/ESI compliance comes up there, the linkages would be revealed due to the Aadhar link. Do you see no further scope in your present place as an MBA? But at any rate, you should disclose the facts in full, and naturally, questions would be put to you in the interview, and you can come clean. As an interviewer for many job openings, we have appreciated candidates who have stated about their rather humble socio-economic background and the struggle one had to endure all along. So you don't have to be apologetic about it; instead, point it out as the strong points in your personality for determination, persistence, hard work, etc., which is likely to be impressive.

Your points are right, but let me tell you about my situation. I'm in a position where I have to support my family solely through my financial assistance. I cannot leave my job at present. Meanwhile, I have to complete an MBA in a regular program as there is no value for a distance MBA. Could you please provide an answer to this?

Every individual knows his individual issues well. As professionals, our advice will be simple: do things that are right and stand scrutiny. What appears convenient at present time may prove to be a wrong step in the long run. Financial problems are presently making you take decisions which may prove problematic in the long run. An MBA program without real attendance is really odd. Most colleges require a minimum attendance percentage. Anyway, make the right decisions even if they are difficult for the present.

When we were PG students of management, we had a friend (a Chemist in a Lab in the Chemical industry) who was attending day classes and working the night shift in a job. There would be no shortage of such individuals. It seems you have already decided on a course of action but would like an endorsement from this forum. Regarding your genuine issue, we have provided our considered view; it is up to you to accept it for whatever it is worth. However, please do not compel us to be a party to crude manipulations and machinations.

Dear Friend,
I can suggest something good that will solve all your problems. Do not leave XYZ, with whom you are excelling and pursuing your MBA. Work until your MBA is completed.
The employer can easily obtain the details using your UAN or ESI number. What is the necessity of providing false information rather than disclosing your assets? Don't let them become a liability.
I still do not understand why you want to hide. Is it a requirement of the employer? Always start with the truth for a favorable outcome.
