One does not need to be a professional in making his/her resume looks impressive. All he/she needs to present their goals/objectives/aim, experience and all their academics. As far as i know......
Here are the few guidlines through which you can make a good resume.
i) OBJECTIVES
ii) PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
iii) CORE COMPETENCIES (the area of your expertise)
iv) PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (starting from the latest)
v) EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION (starting from the last)
vi) TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
vii) ACHIEVEMENTS
viii) PERSONAL INFORMATION
xi) REFERRENCES
Through this i m sure you can be able to make your resume whichlooks good.

Resume writing is a art and can be very effective if portrait in a right manner. Well basically we need to follow few points when we make resume:

1- Not more than 2 pages
2- In very very effective manner ur objective which should tell the company wht u can give nt wht u wnt.
3- Ur skills & knowledge
4- Ur Professional details important is give details of only two organization max not all if u have changed many ogr.
5- Write ur responsibilities in short dnt forget to write KRA's never write processing work.
6- In achievements make sure it should be in numbers its more effective...
7- Educational in short starting with Highest Education.
8- Then write special learning like other professional courses of seminars attented related to job not everything.
9- Then Personal Details: in this ur DOB, Gender, Marital Status, Languages known,
Passport Details.

Resume formatting is also very imp...use spaces, good fonts, readable not too much contents...

As i design resumes i have given the details if need more help kindly revert back :)

Ya I do agree with Ms.Vijeta wat ever c has defined its really gud m also want to share my opinion abt resume,

DO :
  1. The first thing in making resume u should write >Header (name, address, email address, phone number).
  2. Define ur objective coz employer ll see wat ur objective so it should be clear . nd it should be clear tht wat is d scope of ur exp and areas of proficiency .
  3. Give ur educational details in short.
  4. shuld be mention your all companies details with ur designation nd time period.
  5. Now u should Focused on Job Duties nd it should be clear and short.
  6. You should mention whther you received any awards, promotions etc.
  7. Mention ur achievement in short
  8. Reffering to your references.
  9. And then give Personal information, such as date of birth, marital status, height,weight and ur hobbies.
Don’t :
1. Resume shouldn't be longer nd not be Short .
2.dont use personal pronouns are articles.
As exp.: I or we develop new product ( wrong)
Develop new product ( Right)
3.dont put irrelevant information .
A resume is a form of business communication so it should be very clear,readable,and reflection of you in your resume should be perfect
