The Principal employer should maintain a register of contractors. The contractors should maintain
the following registers:
1) Register of persons employed.
2) Muster roll
3) Register of wages
4) Register of deductions for damage or loss
5) Register of fines
6) Register of advances
7) Register of overtime

Can you clear one more thing, recently i have faced a interview , there question asked to me under contract act, How you check the contractor paid the wages of his worker ? I said, we cross check the payment of wages register of contractor. But he was not satisfy with this reply. Can you help me ? what is the right answer of the same ?

Hi,
Every principal employer and every contractor shall maintain such registers and records giving such particulars of contract labour employed, the nature of work performed by the contract labor, the rates of wages paid to the contract labor.
when employer give the work to Contractor they will do one mutual agreement in that they will mention the contract amount and work completion period. contractor will pay the money to workers then what is the need of principal employer to cross verify for that.
simple as per the contract signed by P. employer and contractor, P. employer will pay the money to contractor and contractor will pay the money to his workers so no need of P.Employer to cross verify.

It is the responsibility of the Principle employer to ensure the that contractual employee will get salary on time. Moreover, authorized representative of principle employer should be present while giving the payment to contractual employees. After the disbursement, the same person has the mention in the salary & wages register of contractual employees
