Dear ,
According to me he should not accept this offer,as it is quite different profile what he is doing now. A continuous telecalling and target involved. He should continue here or wait for good opportunity into H.R profile.
Thanks

they are 2 different skills:
payroll can lead to a career in comp n ben or IR...
hiring is definitely an essential part in every HR manager's role... but whether this role adds value or not will be difficult to say...

lets say this person starts working for a consultancy..
with years of exp he/ she will rise to be a "vertical head"....
salaries are high for real good vertical heads (>2crores pa)
there could be a tangent also in this career:
after 2-3 years of hard work, a person with good networking n knowledge of a sector can find job as "hiring manager" in a corporate in the same sector ...salaries can range from as low as (35k to 2 lacs, depends on the candidate/ company)
in the long run to qualify for senior positions, will be a herculean task ...
the person will have to study a lot n understand all aspects of HR be it comp n ben/ tal dev/ etc...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
since the person already has 2 yrs of exp handling payroll/ labour etc
should aquire indepth knowledge of various labour laws/ pick up a bigger establishement wherein the scope for learning is more...
salaries in IR are good (salaries range from 50k to 2 lac pm for mid mgmt )
another route is aquire certifications in Comp n Ben from Hay group or CAMI or another good vendor..
at the bottom we have payroll managers get a salary of 6 -12 lacs pa..
for a comp n ben mgr its 12-13 lac upwards...

There is no question of our suggestion in this. Everyone wants to pursue his/her career in a particular field. It depends on the individual. Someone may aspire to be engaged in IR field, while the other may like to be trainer. While some other may would like to become Payroll processing incharge.
This needs to be decided by the individual not you and I. Whatever interests him, whatever field he thinks that he would be better suited, he decides accordingly.

Dear Ronnie,
HR is a vast area. Whatever work you do adds to your knowledge and experience. A person aspiring to for the career growth has to acquire multifarious experience in the department so as to be able to oversee various functions when he is required to do so. In private sector the concept for changing the profile of personnel in all areas except finance is catching up. I hold a view that you go for the change.
