Recently ,

I had an opportunity to work with very esteemed and decent company in Delhi !!

But , within a week it was noticed that the VP of the department was in habit of shouting and yelling at juniors !!

In fact in department meeting it was announced that SHOUTING & YELLING at Juniors is VP right and no-one can question !!

Juniors were not allowed to speak to other department !!

Bad office politics were followed in department !!

Working Enviroment was not healthy !!

New recruits were facing huge problem from colleagues & few seniors !!

Very soon my turn came and one day & VP started his routine job of Shouting & Yelling at me in his cabin ???

Same day VP called me second time and repeated the action , but this time I recorded his conversation in my phone ??

We went to CEO of company and I told CEO to atleast listen once his statements passed to humiliate & threat juniors ...but he considered the recording illegal as it was without permission from the VP !!!
  1. My query is will any one doing wrong will give permission to record ?
  2. Is it illegal to record conversation and to use it as a proof for self defence as per Indian Law ?
  3. Why Senior consider their right to shout at juniors or create false issues to satisfy their EGOS ??
  4. Is their any Law in India against such seniors who are arrogant and shrwed and exploit their Juniors for their own benefits ??
  5. HR department is NUM , despite knowing the rotten practice followed in departemtn ??

Recording a conversation is not a good practice and can be viewed as unfair under the standing orders of the company. It may have the same interpretation as copying records of the company and using it for some personal gain which are not allowed under any law.
If your VP has no courtesy or is totally ignorant of the office etiquette, it will very hard for you to continue with him. Hence the only punishment that you can give him is to leave him and let the others also follow the same. Then only the Board of Directors will start thinking of replacing him. If you are so particular you can approach the Human Rights Commission for remedy. However, for employees coming below the category of supervisors the Labour Department will be of some use.

I was at the senior post and so was VP ...unfortunately my other colleagues were fresher and most of them were in their first or second job .
My senior were safe as they had joined at the same time VP joined and are quite stable and had learned to handle such colleagues with time ....
It means that at the end of the day , the innocent & hardworking person is the looser .... as the juniors will never gather courage to complain and seniors are not bothered to complain against VP ???
SAD very SAD for Professional people in India who want work with respect and grace !!!!
