Hello, I am currently in the UK enrolled in MSc in Management and International Business fro Birmingham City University. I am doing my dissertation on - The Importance of Soft Skills on Global Corporations.
The study aims to understand the importance of soft skills in an international business environment. And to vend the ideas right which could add value to improve work culture. This study also aims to bring in a helping hand to the management and particularly for the Human Resource Management.
The main objectives of the study are as follows:
To identify the importance of Business skills in the employer’s market today.
To investigate the present understanding and awareness of soft skills at work by organisations and employees.
To elucidate the benefits of soft skills for both the organisation and the people within the organisation.
To evaluate the impact of soft skills on staff communication at a global level in the organisation.
To identify the loopholes and followed strategies used by the organisations for organisational as well as individual growth.

9.Do you exclude candidates with extra ordinary soft skills because they did not meet company bench mark for technical excellence?

I have one suggestion. You have to convert this questionnaire into some kind of objective type.
Say, asking participants to give a rating on a scale of 1 to 5 or something like that.
People who are willing to answer may not have the time to write answers.
Even assuming you get a lot of replies, people may answer very differently and collating would be a stupendous task.

The understanding and awareness are at a low ebb.

Many Corporates use Training Needs Analysis as the basis.
4. Where can soft skills be acquired?
Professional consultants offer different courses. There are in- house programmes in some companies. Some individuals try to acquire on their own by self study.
5.Can personal traits and habits be changed through such skill sets?
Certainly if the individuals are willing to change.
6.During an interview are soft skill considered as crucial as the technical/Hard skills?
Very less time is devoted for soft skill assessment
7.Is there any test conducted during interview like psychometric test?
Selectively done.
