Data sourcing in recruiting is the process of collecting the raw data of the candidates. Recruitment is not as easy as it seems. It takes a lot of hard work with non-stop energy and well-equipped communication skills. You have to constantly think outside the box on how to find, attract and convert the right candidates. Sourcing without effective sourcing tools is meaningless. Through the various job portals, recruiters look upon to the candidate they need. These tools not just make the work of a recruiter easy but also provide a great experience to candidates and attract required industry talent. Data sourcing involves the posting of the job description for which vacancies are existing in the company on various job portals like LinkedIn, Twitter, Indeed, Career sites, job boards, Naukri.com, Freshers world, etc. Also, social media like Facebook, Instagram, business WhatsApp groups, etc. are proving to be a boon for the recruiters to attract the right necessary candidate. These job portals help the recruiter to minimize the lengthy process of searching for a candidate.

Following are the various job portals through which one can target the right candidature profile for the company -

1. Career sites - Generally, many of the youngsters that are pursuing their graduation or post-graduation, used to visit various career sites for their jobs. So, it would prove helpful for pursuing candidates if they are able to search for their desired jobs as they wish to join. Not only for the pursuing candidates but also for the ones who are engaged in other services and wish to switch their jobs can also go for various career sites and check there for desired jobs. Uploading a resume on career sites will take time so if the candidate is not in a hurry to join a job or if he/she is searching passively for a job and is not in a rush then, they can opt for career site. On such job boards, the resume will be seen if they are looking for the relatable skills mentioned in the resume. The possibility that the resume will be opened is based on the keywords that are being searched by the recruiters.

2. LinkedIn - One of the most popular job portals these days is none other than LinkedIn. This job portal is the most helpful and easiest way to share with people about what you want in your job requirement. Through LinkedIn, the recruiters can directly post the job description on their profile and share it so that their connections can see about what are they looking for. Having lots of official connections will help the recruiter to make their post reach to as much as people they can. Through LinkedIn, it becomes easier for the recruiter to grab the right candidate through his previous experience, his current position, college, etc. But, it is necessary that the recruiter must have many connections that too official. Even if the candidates are engaged in any of the jobs, still they can upload their resume on LinkedIn for future reference. LinkedIn directly connects the job seeker with the recruiter or professional managers. Though, it is free. But, there is the availability of premium memberships too that will unlock more features to great opportunities.

3. Indeed - It is the world's largest search engine for jobs. Job seekers across 60 countries are connected on Indeed. It includes job listings for everyone whether a candidate is fresher or experienced. One can find millions of job offerings on Indeed. It is somehow similar to LinkedIn. Like LinkedIn, the recruiters can post the job description and vacancy on their profile. It is again a simple way to apply for any job through Indeed.

4. Twitter - It is a social as well as a job portal site. Recruiters can again target their candidates through twitter by tweeting the requirements for a particular job. And, as it is an open-source of connections, anyone can follow your accounts. Youngsters can be targeted particularly through twitter as they are familiar with social media concepts like twitter. There are hundreds of thousands of jobs posted on twitter daily. And, millions of people had already joined twitter and the number is still increasing. One can find the job on twitter through keywords, hashtags, etc. Any tweet related to the searched keywords will appear on the board. Follow some of the recruiter's account or accounts on the individuals that used to post various jobs on a regular basis.

5. Freshersworld - It is the emerging job portal with crores of resumes and jobs. It also includes paid membership for applying.

Apart from these portals, social media is the best platform to search and target the right candidates. Nowadays, not only youngsters but everyone is highly active on social media. So, it might be easier to share your post about the requirements as much as you can. Social media platforms include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Also, bulk SMS and emails can help recruiters to search for the candidates. Also, sourcing can be done through -

• Networking events – Networking events is a business activity in which businessman or business people meet to build or to improve the business relationship. The networking events in turn generates referrals for further references. It emphasizes on the face-to-face communication. The networking events include conferences, business meet-ups, job fairs, consultancies, etc. Recruiters attend such meet-ups to encounter with the right job seekers. Also, active job seekers should attend these events to make as many connections as possible with recruiters and professional managers.

• Referrals - It includes the candidates that are referred through the existing working employees or by the management team. It also includes a reference from close relatives, family or friends. The referenced candidates may be given preference as someone working there has suggested them to the management. Personal reference by someone makes a huge difference when a candidate is looking for a job. The recruiters can save their time and efforts by getting the desired candidate to them by direct references.
