hi all,
My problem is, i am into HR and the only one, but i am not given any opportunity to implement Hr activities in the company. the company belongs to my own uncle, but he is not in india and he too bends to the senior mgt in india and always favor to them, i think he has a fear of losing the company, or they may stop work if he go against to them,
2. the grading and structure are not according to standards - i repeatedly told them that we have change the designations according to global standards - BUT NO ACTION , they always hesitate
3. being HR i should be given a cabin to for employee privacy and to conduct interviews etc, but no such thing
4. employees still go and tell their problems to the people who had borough them to the company
5. Experience certificates, reliving letters are still given by senior mgt
6. recruitment happens without knowledge of MD & HR
7. Though HR conveys an a new joinee to come and join on a certain date, still he brings the referred employee and with his recommendation he joins early
8. I made all HR policies and showed them to MD & CEO, but they are not ready to implement
9. any corporate party to be arranged is still told to some finance fellow.
10. i seriously feel no body does his work.
11. i was also been taken to do project mgt, but unless the technical head schedule the proj, how will i plan and do follow ups.
12. now i have been asked to take care of inventory mgt. procurement,
13. they keep me unaware of all happening things at company.

I am facing the same problem and i have only option to go for new employer.
I guess you are very soft spoken, sensitive person as i am and i think this is the only reason we are facing such problems. Being HR one should be strong enough But i think you have bit advantage as your uncle is a chair person. You can do survey for other rivalaries in your industry....study their work pattern and then you can put the realities in front of your uncle and you have to made him to believe in you if he want to grow business successfully. Try to create confidence about you in those key persons even.

I understanmd your problem and theirs some advantage as well as some disadvantages also as your uncle is the chairperson. See you have to collect some solid evidence or proof and you can show it to your uncle and still if supports other members then i would suggest you should look for a job change as otherwise you will loose your confidence and health also.

My uncle is in US, when he comes, he is busy in looking Prd Development Process. and the senior mgt has strong base, my uncle had pampered them so much now to face any change they resist.

We dont have infrastructure to have separate room, and i dont even have powers to reject a candidate, if his attitude is not good.

No the senior mgt is not equal to MD or CEO, and one more thing project trainee come without knowledge of me, and these senior managers have worked in good companies , they have a idea of HR activities, but still dont want me to involve as they feel their control is at stake

Wherever u go there will be problem, Since ur a HR try to address the issuse rather than get out of the pblm. Dont loose ur hope. Trying for another job is ok but you have to prove urself before coming out of the company.
If ur company is recruiting a candidates for a project, ask concern PM to give manpower utilization(How the candidates is utilized).
Once again I am telling Corporate Party is not a Mandotory. Instead of that u can go for Special Meetings, conduct Training & Development etc to motivate the employees.

Seeing the issues what you have mentioned i feel that may be you need to interact much more with all your employees ...
HR always doesn't mean to make policies... you need to be employee friendly... may be the employees are used to let their grieveince in front of their Reporting managers, hence they would be hesitant to let it in front of you,... if they are comfortable with you, may be they'll start coming to you..
Also, you mentioned that there is no separate cabin for interview purpose..... it may not be necessary to provide one.. take the candidate to cafeteria if there is one..or to any place which you are comfortable with....
IF the experience letter or any such letters are been given by the sr. management then make sure its been done in front of you..if not through you...
Start pulling yourself into such activities.... instead of thinking why its not coming to you... you go behind things till they come into your control.....
Since you are the only HR in your company you wouldn't face the competition with fello employees in HR...
Imagine in MNC's where there would be lot of HRs, you'll find lot of competition, no body will let such chance to go out of their hand...
Be proactive and start including your self into things... then you see you'll get everything in place what you wanted before..

everything was fine when i was in my old company, i am very employee friendly, let me tell you employees from my previous company still call me and tell their problems, or ask me suggestions.

Yes i had but restriction that i will prepare, the letter and MD will approve it.
but i still feel they are some loop holes,

This is the common problem any growing company faces. Instead of complaining or worrying about things work it on the root level. Understand the Senior Managers work and try to help them in HR perspective.
Any Management will believe Technical team first. It takes time to build trust.
There are always alternative ways to approach people. Just be open and accept what is offered to you.
