Hi All,
I am working as an HR executive in a start up IT organization.
Currently we have 30 employees working in Chennai office.
At this point there is no tool maintained for attendance tracking. The technical team is bringing about ways of developing an ERP system, but it is taking longer than scheduled.
Please contribute ideas and views to bring about an ad-hoc tracking system.
It would be of great help if I could get valuable inputs.

Dear Mohan,
Manual method would be preferred since my company is in the process of creating an ERP module for attendance tracking. But it is getting delayed.
So, at this point it would be helpful if you can provide some method which will simplify keeping track of attendance.

Dear Ms.Aishwarya,
In our company we are using the attached excel sheet for time being.
We use "sheet1" for getting signatures from employees on entry and exit of the office and use that signed paper to record their monthly attendance it the sheet "attendance" and their overtime if any in the sheet "overtime" and use them for further proceeds.
We find this method somewhat easier. Reply how you feel.

Mohan.

Dear Mohan,
Thanks for the suggestion. But I really have to highlight here that my company is strongly against maintaining a register for In-time & Out-Time.
Are there any other possible ways of tracking this?

Dear Ms.Aishwarya,
Then you can look for a readilily available in market electronic device such as biometric thump reader or card reader machine which will be coupled with basic software to maintain attendance alone. But cannot process payroll.

There are many great electronic devices which track, record and send information to payroll. As yours is small company a simple device will suffice. Advanced device will even do the scheduling and allocation too :)

Hello Aishwarya,
Further to the different suggestions by our esteemed friends as well as based on my 26+yrs experience, I would suggest a Swipe Card based Time & Attendance Mgmt system. Since you have only 30 emp and secondly since you are already in process of having an ERP, a Biometric or other HiFi system may prove to be expensive and cant be meshed up with your ERP at a later day. Please look for a TAMS which can export the data in excel format so that once your ERP is operational, this file can be used to work out the payroll and other related activities. There are few companies in Chennai, such as PACE Automation which may offer such systems.
