Dear Manish,
Your wife's interests are important above all. If she is interested to pursue career in HR, she should go ahead with it. However, has she understood concept of HR well?
Thanks,

I think that you are not clear what is going on these days. these days it is the attitude and interests that work. One who grows is one who loves his work; so friend, let your wife decide on her own. Tell her about positives and not so positive things about HR. She could do a dipoloma in HR or may be MBA, then she can do so many things by just working on her laptop from the comfort of her house.

Dear Sri Divekar

I am srinivaskvmk. Thanks for ur +ive response on the query. I have another query wrt my career growth.

I am working as a Personal Secretary in a Govt. PSU for almost 17 yrs. now. I have two PG Diplomas to my credit viz> PG DIP in HRD(3 yrs) and PG DIP. in Pers. Mgmt & IR from Osmania University Campus (2 yrs. parttime) and have Dip. in Trg. & Devept. from ISTD, Delhi.

Since, our Orgn. has no Channal of Promotion for my category of people other than a 4-year timebound promotion to next higher cadre with similar nature of role play, I am almost exhausted being monotonous in my work more so with a background of HR but being not able to be in Core HR.

Your expert advice is highly solicited for my future career planning. I cannot impose rules nor can I take an immediate break from my present employment as it amounts to lot of risk being a secured employment and have to take care of my dependants too. But how to negotiate on my career path.

Pl suggest on my personal id

Thanks in advance.

Hi Manish,
In my view you should encourage your wife to do what she likes and is interested in to do not just go with the flow and do the “in” thing!! It is important when you consider a sound career that you also take into consideration your satisfaction. Doing what you like will also motivate you to do more and learn as well as establish your self in the career hence the opportunity to climb up the ladder.

Dear Srinivis,
Why dont u thing of baby steps. try one step at a point. First u may go for some planned consultancy sort of thing. u would be free on saturday and sunday. use your time which u would be wasting on unncecessary things. Be a planner of ur life first. set ur goals, make a plan, work on plan, have trust in existance, best of luck.

hi manish,
She can persue a distance learning program. But first check for her aptitude. her willingness to work. her choices, HRD is certainly a good but hard work. you have to interect with number of people. In a way you have to advice so many people. It makes sense if she has a good personality and is easily comfortable with talking with others.
