A UK based company which has 10 years working background in Mumbai suddenly shutdown its Mumbai branch during this lockdown, stating the reason as low business, without paying the salaries and other statutory benefits to the employees. What action can be taken by the employees in this scenario?

If the situation is because of Carona, they should have atleast paid the salary if not benefits. As per the previous post metioned I would also suggest you the same, not paying even salaries is not correct.

First of all to check the status and previous history of this Business according to State Labour Laws and Company Act,1956.
Legally, It is not possible to Shutdown Business during Lock-down period without paying statutory benefits.
As per Industrial Dispute Act, 1947 the provision relating to Shutdown or Closer of Business is clearly mentioned.
But without following any Labour Law Provisions, it is not possible to take such type of decision.
As per the previous post mentioned, I would like to suggest make written complaint to the State Labour Commissioner.
