hello everybody,
I am working in an MNC
( to be specific it is a Software/technology solutions organization )..
I have signed a service agreement bond which I will be definitely serving and I DONT intend to break the bond at all !!!
..
I have plans to join the army after I serve the complete bond period..
I will be needing at least 5 days of leave for the SSB interview(services selection board) , in order to undergo the recruitment and selection process for the army/navy/air-force ..
..
I am pretty much worried on how I am gonna approach my reporting manager/HR personnel / immediate superiors / boss etc. , in order to ask for such a leave ... How would they react if I say that I have such a plan to join the forces, and need a week's time leave for the same??
(of course, I am not migrating / switching to some "other" IT firm , and this decision of joining the forces is a noble cause As per my instinct )
...
My query is , will there be any issue If i tell them frankly that this is my career plan ( i.e. joining the forces ..) ??

Please explain your bosses that you are going to serve the nation by joining in the Army in Short Service Commission, for which I have decided to appear before SSB with your blessings. I need one week leave as the interview will be from Monday to Friday in any week at Mysore or wherever the location for which you have to proceed.
After completing the tenure of 5 years as SSC Officer I will come back and join in this organisation as this is my mother organisation.
I request your blessings to get through the SSB Exams to serve the nation.
After getting the leave please do inform me, I would like to give you some tips how to face the interview.
All the best dear

thank you SIR. I Will definitely get in touch with you when my SSB dates are near.
... well,
Many of my friends suggested to say false reasons like injury/health issues/condolence etc..
However, I am planning to stick to the true reason and approach in trying to make them understand about my intentions.
..........
But, the thing that bothers me is that, being an IT company, are there any chances that they may start neglecting me ( in matters like , deployment into projects, tasks etc.) considering my statements regarding my career plans ( i.e. joining the services ) ?????
.. what I am trying to say is , ..
Will they have an opinion like - "this guy is going to move away some time soon , why bother to deploy him into projects etc.. !!???!!!"
??
I am keen on this aspect because, I am planning to attend SSB interviews for various entries, and I will be applying for all entries/recruitment notifications for which I find my eligibility fitting in..

Just tell you have some competitive exam and you need to appear , prepare for it and take one week leave... Tomorrow when you will become army officer you will be more successfull and powerful than your manager, and demand one week leave..

why you are so confused? Either tell your boss straight that you need to appear for SSB or go for medical leave
etc.
Secondaly you would be requiring 5 days only in case you happen to clear screening.
Thirdly Top IT coy's HR is quiet packed of Ex Defence officers(SSC/PC types) and there is no reason your HR head
cant understand your momenatry leave application and remove apprehension & overforecastings.
Fourth, SSC is generally 5 years can take 7 years for self leaving and now you can serve till 14 years and can be
converted as Permanent commission type therafter.
Dont worry you seems to be young when are appearing for SSB? [AFSB Mysore] and seems to be worried for 5/10
years down not an officer like quality (OLQ), Indeed needed to become an officer.
Try working on your attitude be a carefree by nature, work on PABT(if for flying)/WAT/SRT/GTO/PI/Lecture and
believe blank story writing plays a very important role in phychologists clearing. Dont be hyper in group tasks,
be decent and explore the opportunity to hammer in a leadership style. Wear smart casuals, wearing tie can be
your take bur do wear creased trousers only & only for PI, take a decent hair cut and comb hairs well, you will see
a mirror outside the PI(Group Captain/Air Commodore) cabin where its written "are you properly dressed" he will be
watching every candidates drill, posture & reflexes. If ever feeling down dont get bogged
down or carried away, dont try to guide/become leader just try n become a good follower, dont get dumb in
lecture irrespective of topic nor try to act smart by becoming an excellent orator just speak less with pauses (you
will learn army style later in your ESW subjects) and with confidence you will get through.
chalo wish you success ahead.
