X company has given me a relieving letter mentioning 1st Dec 2017 as my last working day. Y company has asked me to join on 26th Oct 2017 due to client urgency as my X company was not ready to release me before 1st Dec 2017. Now, I have the original experience letter from company X mentioning 1st Dec 2017 as my last working day and the joining date in Y company as 26th Oct 2017. So, officially, I have an overlap of around 1 month between the last working day in X company and the joining date in Y company. In the future, if I join Z company, will it be a problem? Please provide your valuable thoughts. Thanks.

Dear friend,

I believe that the narrative of your post suffers from discontinuity and ambiguity. The phrase "Overlapping of last working day in previous Company and joining date in current Company" suggests that the date of departure from the previous company and the date of joining the current company are the same. However, the actual dates of departure and joining are 01-12-2017 and 26-10-2017 respectively. This raises the question of how this is possible.

The last working day in Company X, as per its official relieving letter, is 01-12-2017, indicating that you were employed by X up to and including that date. Your first working day in Company Y, on 26-10-2017, suggests that you started working for Y from that date onwards. This situation implies dual employment, which is not feasible and is also illegal. In reality, there is no overlap in relieving and joining dates but rather an overlap in your employment with both companies from 26-10-2017 to 01-12-2017. This indicates that you may have switched jobs between the two companies without authorization, possibly due to the urgency of Company Y and the reluctance of Company X. This unexplained situation could have implications for your future employability.

Please let me know if you need further clarification or assistance.

Best regards,

Dear Friend,

I would like to add some words to Umakanthan Sir's explanation. It not only affects your future employment but also impacts your PF transfer process and final PF settlement due to the overlap of DOJ and DOE.
