Dear Sir/Madam,

Myself an Assistant HR Manager working in a small level IT/ITES firm located in Chennai. I have completed my MBA in 2008 from a reputed B-School in Bangalore namely Acharya Institute of Management & Sciences. I had a goal in my life to pursue my MBA from a reputed B-School and I have achieved it.

I have a total experience of 3 years in HR. In that, 2 years I was working in hardcore IT & NON-IT recruitment in a consultancy serving for various companies in various domains and I have done that job at my best. Now Iam working as a Generalist HR in this company and handling various roles like Employee Grievances, Employee Retention, SOP, Facility Management, Recruitment (End-to-End), Manpower Planning, Training & Development and etc and I am directly reporting to the CEO. I don't have a HR Manager supervising me. Its all my CEO.

Recently Iam started feeling like I need an Ultimate Guru to learn the real skills of HR and its Tactics. I have not got any chance in my life till now to learn from such a HR person who is good in Human Resources and had a tremendous experience and willing to teach me.

I feel this because, In my organization whatever I do is the HR activity. There is no one to correct my mistakes or sometimes I myself get confused whether what Iam doing is right or wrong. I will try my level best to read the books and articles related to HR and tried to learn things. But I always feel like it is not enough and I know for sure I need an ultimate guru who can teach me things in HR and mold me as a Specialist.

Kindly suggest me further and help me out to realize my dream. Or at-least let me know whether my hunch is right or wrong.

Thanks and Regards

Dear Hrtech

You have good qualification as you are qualified from a good B-school, and a vast good domain experience in Consultancy firm where you have worked on various domain like IT ITES, Pharmaceuticals, constructions, Cement, oil, Gas, Chemical etc., and you did your job well.

Ok, Let me clarify that now the job you are performing is a Role of an HR executive who takes care of total aspects of HR activities in which Recruitment in one of the part.
U know in a company the HR plays Nearly more than 54 roles

Yours past experience counts only Recruitment in Consultancy which is necessary for every HR
Where as the HR executive Role is quietly differs from the HR recruitment Executive. Hope u know,

as it is your bad luck that u don't have any person above you who can give u a guidance to know what is what, since the Role consists of Many major rules and regulation.
But the good thing in your career is u have achieved as an Asst. Hr manager position in short span of career which should be rewarded in your life.
Now with some difficult in doing the work accurately without proper guidance u feel it is inconvenient for you and you want to change the Job.
it means that u want to stick to only Recruitment's.which is a left hand for you

see no person in the world become good with a proper guidance. since take the story of Ekalavya in Mahabaratham, it is only the goal of learning which made him,, ofcourse we are in the technology era,,you can search what ever documents, policies procedures, articles, job functions and their nature in Google. in the networking sites of HR and even u can consult some experienced persons in personal and have some knowledge..

Take a Good Drive in an Ocean which makes you leader in World but taking a dip in lake is quiet easy task there is no need of a drive a single dip is enough.

Hope i have given my concern with your situation.
