I want to ask u all a question.
I started my career with an IT company A. I was sent on a project to company B on contract basis. MY hardwork work and dedication was paid off ie, company b offered me to join on a permanent role. i too accepted the offer by company B. when B initiated a reference check, A gave me a red remark. their point was that i cannot join those companies that had former associations with my parent company. Then i came up with an idea. what I'll can do is I'll join company C which send its employees on contract basis to Company B. B has promised me that after 3 months, it will take me on a permanent basis. (tho i don't have a written commitment from their side). now, after 3 months when B will carry out the reference check, I am sure A will give me a red and C will give me a green.
What I want to know in if after few years when i decide to quit B and join D will the red mark (from my first company) have any impact on my career?
Please can someone guide me on this

A simple solution is to be honest & give clarity of the situation to A,B,C,D,E,F...Z whenever required in future.
The other option is to follow a complex formula A+B/2 X C + 100 X A X 100% -B + AXC +CXB / D....hope this works

Leme tell you something... Dont keep hoping up from company to company.. The only impact you will have is that the short period in which have been servicing the company.. other than that every company won't have such complex situations on every behalf... Again speak with the "B" company that the only reason for which the "A" company is showing up the red signal is nothing but of the point of attrition or short work period... There wont be any thing else in regards to the red point...

Hi Arpita,
A question for you before we could suggest:
1. Have you signed a no-compete agreement with A? I guess its yes, otherwise nobody can hold you back from joining any company just by giving that reason. If no, you are not bound legally to A and you can explain yourself to B.

I disagree with you on this that not every company has such complex situations.
Arpita has not replied to my question and I feel it should be a yes b'cos of which she is not able to move to B.
It's an industry practice Mahesh where employees or contracting firms have to sign a no-compete with the parent company. It's widely used in US where you have C2C practiced. I am sure the INdian firm who have consultants on contracts have the same practice unless somebody in the forum can put some light on it.

Hope you will understand and talk to ur organization for mutual agreement on the same.

Life is quite complex, lets try to make things simpler. All this juggling will only make companies distrust you to honour the secrecy bond. And of course there is always this issue of being 'disloyal' by not sticking around for a while. Since most companies do a check, this loose end may crop up. U could always approach your company and see if this issue can be worked out.
